Handmade NZ Macrocarpa Celebration Rings

from $32.00

Part of what I wanted to create with Poppy + Sage was creating pieces that would go the distance with you and your family. I wanted to create things that could become family traditions, and rituals to bring you and your loved ones closer together at special times.

I realised that although candles do this - they don’t last forever, so I wanted something to accompany them.

The idea of a celebration ring is not a new idea, but an old European tradition. Sold either as singular pieces, or as a set of 4 to create a circle. The pieces that can be rearranged depending on the event.

The pieces look beautiful arrange into a long wiggly line down the centre of a table, or broken up for individual settings. Or simply as a circle in the centre of the table as a main centre piece.

Available in 4 different sizes, depending on how many holes you need.

  • Large - 16 hole (30cm diameter)

  • Medium - 12 hole (15cm diameter)

  • Small - 8 hole (22cm diameter)

  • Mini - 4 hole (11cm diameter)

Hole diameter 1.7cm All pieces fit the Grimms ornaments as well.

Depending on the size of your ring you could add a little handmade ornament, wooden number, letter, candles, flowers in a tiny vase, crystals, anything beautiful and small really.

Ways to use the Celebration Rings -

Birthdays

Then add specific ornament that represents something from the year that has passed. Maybe a bike if that was the year they learned to ride a bike. A strawberry for a particularly sweet trip somewhere warm. A pencil for a new found love of drawing etc the list goes on. The idea being that each year you add an ornament to your ring, and the story of your life grows as you do so you can look back through the years and memories each Birthday.

Seasonal Celebrations

Maybe the Summer Solstice, yellow candles, a little sun ornament, some fresh orange flowers. Or the Autumn Equinox, warm orange and red candles with toadstall and leaf ornaments.

A lovely way to bring attention to the turning of the seasons and the changes within and outside of ourselves.

Special Occasions

Not just Birthdays but these can be used for first times ,last times, anniversaries, the arrival of a new pet, moon phases,a special visitor, a big achievement, Halloween, Easter and Christmas!

Maybe someone has passed in your family and you want a way to honour them on a certain day. Candles can be lit and ornaments that represent this person so this ring can stand as a memory to them on that day .

My vision is that these pieces are for life, and will travel through many celebrations with your family, creating memories and lasting experiences of beauty in your home.

All rings are handmade to order at home by me. It is normal for your ring to have knots or other unique features that wood often has. This is the beauty of each piece being slightly different. Sealed with pure danish oil from the Natural Paint Company.

-

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Your celebration ring is solid and build to last. You do still need to take care of it though. The best way to do this is to scrape any residual wax off with a flat palette knife and give it an oil from time to time if the wood begins to dull. After you have done this you can give it a polish with a soft lint free cloth and it will look as good as new!

Keep it out of direct heat and sunlight as this will cause the wood to swell and possibly crack - the same goes for exposing it to water.

FIRE SAFETY ALERT-

You cannot use candles in this without the brass inserts as this is dangerous! Blow the candles out once they burn down to 2cm and replace them. Do not let the candles burn down into the brass inserts. Never leave lit candles unattended.
